Highly acclaimed evening event in Stratford upon Avon, a joint partnership between Stratford Town Walk and Bancroft Cruisers.

A gentle cruise along the river Avon with a Platter, followed by a magical Ghost Walk around the ‘haunted’ streets of Stratford upon Avon.

The evening starts at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Bridgeway at Bancroft Cruisers landing stage. The Rita Ellen, a purpose built function boat will be ready to board at 6.30pm, sailing at 7pm, for around 45 mins. The boat is covered, centrally heated, has toilet facilities and a mini bar.  The relaxing cruise along the gently flowing River Avon with its abundance of wildlife, provides a delightful backdrop to charm the senses.

And then things change!  At the end of the cruise, one of Stratford Town Ghost Walk’s guides will be waiting.  Join Blake Barrington, Jocasta Spell, Man in Black (Mib) or Vincent for an entertaining Ghostly Walk with magic or spells.  Discover the buildings where there are tales of ghosts, witches, murder and misery.  Don’t go home alone…. 

The ghostly guides are members of Equity and professional magicians, or entertainers.  A ghostly, magical evening.  The evening will end at around 9pm at the Swan Fountain on Waterside.

A brief interval during the cruise provides the opportunity to stretch the legs and re-visit the bar.

Christmas Day Festive Guided Walk – 25 December 2013

Join the award winning Stratford Town Walk for a festive guided walk on Christmas Day!  Discover Stratford’s history & fascinating relationship with William Shakespeare.

Hear stories of fires, floods, plague, ’Christmas wrapped’ with old fashioned sayings and medieval cures.  Starts at 10.30am for approximately 1 1/2hrs.  Adults £5, children (under 16) £2, under 5’s free!  No need to book, just turn up on Waterside, opposite the fish & chip shop on the corner of Sheep Street, Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire.

Stratford Food Festival set to be the best yet

The eighth annual Stratford Food Festival, based at Stratford Racecourse this year, will be the biggest and best yet and aims to attract a record 20,000 visitors.


Over 100 exhibitors will showcase a variety of different foods and drinks. As well as a wide variety of exhibitors, visitors can see food and drink demonstrations and workshops, and a few famous faces. With entertainment for the kids, live music and food & drink to tantalize the taste buds, the festival will be an exciting event for everyone.

Tickets are available now and buying early online obtains a discounted rate of £5 as opposed to £6 on the gate. Accompanied children under 16 go free. Special features can also be booked- £3 for the Paul Hollywood demonstration and two Indian cookery workshops from Cardamom Pod and Anita Sharma-James from The Spice Trade which are each £10 to attend. Celebrities, Demonstrations and Workshops!

An exciting line-up for this year’s cookery demonstrations currently includes, Sophie Michell as the headline act on Saturday 14th September.


Previous co-presenter on Channel 4′s ‘Cook Yourself Thin’, Sophie will be cooking up some recipes from her new cookbook on healthy eating. Sophie will be representing the charity Sense for the deaf blind.

Sophie Michell said “I am so excited to be appearing at the Stratford Food Festival this year – what a pleasure to be asked along to be one of the two headlining acts, along with Paul Hollywood, at one of the biggest and best regional food festivals in the country ! I’m excited by the opportunity to inspire people with my cooking, to let people know what I’ve been up to and to sample some of the 100+ food and drink exhibitors for myself…yummy. I’m also very much looking forward to raising awareness of the national deaf blind charity, Sense, for whom I’m delighted to be an Ambassador.”

Paul Hollywood is the headline act on Sunday 15th September. Paul Hollywood judge on BBC’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’ and star of his own BBC series on ‘Bread’ will be doing 3 demonstrations and a book signing. Industry professionals will also be attending from the following organisations: The Food Education Trust, Aubrey Allen, Ettington Park, The One Elm and The Encore.


Interactive Workshops will give visitors the opportunity to see first-hand what the food industry professionals do best and learn something new. Join expert chef Anita Sharma-James on a journey of discovery as she guides you through the essential steps to produce a truly tasty and authentic curry from scratch using local produce. Afterwards try a selection of exciting Indian finger/street foods from her new recipe book ‘A Life of Spice’. On a similar theme, Solihull based Indian Cookery company ‘The Cardamom Pod’ will host cookery workshops on the Saturday of the festival. Moushumi Moran says ‘my tutorial classes focus on a particular area of Indian cookery that requires time and attention to achieve perfection’.

Seren Evans-Charrington, founder of Bubbling Stove Historical Recipes and recent guest on four episodes of ITV1′s Sunday Kitchen, will be cooking up some delicious recipes inspired by Shakespeare. On the Saturday Seren will be demonstrating how to make Warden Pie, referred to in Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, and an Elizabethan Cheesecake.

More Markets and areas for Entertainment

Back by popular demand the talk and taste area will be providing a variety of talks, demonstrations and tasting sessions; including everything from wine tasting to cake decorating. David Jowett will be talking about modern British cheese making, and offering samples of his own cheese, and cheeses from other new and exciting farmhouse and artisan cheese makers. Geoff Bond, Ugg Foods Science Director talks about ‘The Paleo Diet’ and how it positively affects health, aids fat/weight loss and improves all over fitness. The staff from Aubrey Allen, Butchers and Delicatessen, in Leamington will give a butchery demonstration showing some of the techniques they use to prepare the products in store. Roger Protz editor of the Good Beer Guide and Author of ’300 More Beers’ will also be choosing five beers from his book to discuss and taste

Specifically for children Abi from Jambaloo Party will be holding cookery sessions to keep the children amused. Her enthusiastic and passionate approach to getting children cooking makes for great interactive involvement. Half hourly sessions will be being held on both days of the festival.

Live broadcasts will be also feature on air from the Stratford Racecourse as Touch FM host their own Interview Stage. Those involved with the festival will get the chance to have their interview broadcasted on air, including Sophie Michell, Sense for the deaf blind charity, local businesses exhibiting at the Festival…..and many more.

Live bands will be performing throughout both Saturday and Sunday. Exciting performances from Stolen Comfort, The Birmingham Blues Brothers, Alfonzo’s Pancake Breakfast and many more will be providing a lively soundtrack to the food festival.
