Ally has over 15 years’ experience in asset finance, while Leah is a specialist in start-up loan funding, as she previously spent two years at another Start Up Loan delivery partner. The duo is responsible for increasing the volume of businesses applying for loans, and speeding up the application process.

CWRT has seen the number of applications for loan funding grow over the last year. Companies are buoyed by the economic recovery, and are looking for a convenient and competitive alternative to a business bank. Although CWRT was originally established to provide financial assistance within the Coventry and Warwickshire region, it has now become a national lender, with start-ups across the UK accessing its affordable business loans.

Both loan officers will be attending local networking events, and are especially interested in encouraging applications from female led businesses.

Mike Musson, Chief Executive of CWRT, comments: “We are growing our team at an exciting time for CWRT – we have expanded the Start Up Loans Programme nationally, we are about to launch our new Inclusive Enterprise Programme, and we have grown our pot of commercial loan funding for existing businesses based in Coventry and Warwickshire.

CWRT’s start-up loan programme is specifically designed to help new businesses like #FaceFlips, Kokoso Skin and Viewpoint Games, lending up to £25,000, and providing mentoring support pre and post loan application to help entrepreneurs start their own business and to encourage employment across the region. For commercial loans, CWRT lends up to £75,000.

CWRT is a delivery partner for the national Start Up Loans initiative, which has now lent more than £200 million to micro-businesses in the UK after recently agreeing its 36,000th loan. The initiative was set up by government in 2012, says its loans have contributed to the creation of more than 50,000 jobs, with more than 16,000 of those people being formerly unemployed or economically inactive.

About CWRT

CWRT is a not-for-profit specialist finance provider committed to supporting businesses and individuals based in Coventry and Warwickshire. It provides flexible and competitive finance designed to meet the needs of entrepreneurs and businesses from the Coventry & Warwickshire area who are unable to obtain loans from mainstream sources of finance.
CWRT understands that obtaining business finance can sometimes be a challenge. The lack of a track record, unreasonable security arrangements, past financial problems or simply not meeting conventional credit scoring methods may raise barriers to obtaining funding.
Since 2004, after receiving funding from various organisations including the European Regional Development Fund, Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and the Start Up Loans Company, CWRT has loaned nearly £5 million to start-up and existing businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire that have had difficulty in raising finance elsewhere.
